PRODUCT REVIEW: APOGEE ROSETTA STEREO 24-BIT A to D CONVERTER
This is an awesome piece of gear I’ve been using for many years now. While tracking guitars and vocals for Rabbi’s song “Bilqis” , the Apogee Rosetta , The Avalon VT737 , the Art Pro MPA and the Focusrite Platinum Penta preamps were the key devices in the signal chain. The Rossetta is no doubt one of the best analog to digital convertors in the market even today. Cost me around $1,400 ! Its build is robust , and the buttons on the front panel are sturdy and simple to use. Adat optical and spdif and analog I-O in the back and Not getting into tech details...from a musicians point of view , Its AWESOME! The BIG question …is it worth the money? Does it deliver? ….YES, YES! Sounds excellent, unlike the cheap convertors built in a digital mixer or other firewire devices. The lows were tight, the music felt smooth and round, and I could hear stuff …minute details, the highs were shimmering without any apparent harshness. If you can spare the moolah I suggest you get an Apogee for your studio, your work will sound excellent and the clients will love you.
